My First Blog – No More Regrets!

By Marc

Okay – I’ll go first, and while this is not the Regret of the Week, it is my way of avoiding the regret of being paralyzed by the fear of trying something new. It’s amazing (to me) that I’ve taught online for almost 15 years, I’m “logged in” at least 10x/day, I have a fairly functional website, and yet until today I’ve avoided the sport of blogging. No worries, my 13-year old daughter is giving me a crash course and kind of likes the idea of having a Blogger Dad.

If you’re reading this, you may have caught wind that my latest book No More Regrets! is on its way to the masses (out in virtual stores in December, brick-and-mortar stores in January). Exciting! This is my third book and while I’ve been fortunate to have done well on the first two, No More Regrets! captures my most authentic voice and writing style on a topic that is near and dear to most of us. None of us want to have regrets in life, but most of us have them. The point of the book is not to deny that, but instead to float the idea that it may in fact be possible to avoid future regrets. How? Through my experience as a research professor and coach/consultant, interviews with literally thousands of people, and a lot of soul-searching, I developed and tested 30 ways that we all can use to abolish regrets and in turn live happier and more meaningful lives. Even if just a few of these strategies resonate with you, my belief is that making one or two small changes in our behavior and perspective can get us closer to a life that is regret-free.

The first step is to answer the question:  what is your biggest regret? Take a moment to really dig deep and be self-reflective – what comes to mind? How did this regret impact you and your life? How have you tried to move past it (and were you successful)? What are you doing now to avoid this regret in the future? If you’re up for the challenge, post your biggest regret on my blog. Putting it out there may help break the hold this regret has had on you.  It may also help others learn, grow, and feel connected.  If your story is selected as the Regret of the Week, it will be featured on the home page of this site and possibly become a candidate for my next book (not kidding).

Thanks for reading my first blog, no longer a virgin! I plan to be blogging quite a bit throughout each week, so come back and check it out.

My best,
